Cucumber Lime Agua Fresca

For some of us, summer weather is already here. Like for me: living in Dallas means hot and humid days this time of the year. I like enjoying the cooler evenings in the backyard under the shade of the trees with a large pitcher of a good Agua Fresca.

For those hot days, I always have fresh fruits cut up in the fridge as snacks. I also like to make this refreshing drink with some simple ingredients like cucumbers, lime juice, sugar, and fresh mint leaves to garnish. Even though this is a great beverage for summer months, I tend to make it year around.

we went to a get together next door, it was catered and they served the
cucumber-lemon-agua-fresca- and it was so smooth and so refreshing, I have not found a recipe with the lemon? I did make a pitcher of the lime one and it was good but not as pleasing. we have bot lemon and lime trees , so that is the most expensive item if you have to buy them, I will strain the next batch and see if it is more like what the caters had for us.
Debbie
I made this yesterday and my family drank it all in 1 day. I am trying the orange agua fresca today. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes.
Mely Martínez
Hello Debbie,
This cucumber and Lime agua fresca is so refreshing. Glad to know your family like it.

We like the pulp of the cucumbers to remain, so I don’t strain. I add strawberries sometimes and will also use agave for sweetening. Amazing recipe!
Linda
Kelly: How much agave do you use for this recipe?
Joanne
Love this. Had my first lime cucumber Fresca in a mall here in Texas. Later had been drinking this flavor in Gatora but now can't find it. So decided to make my own. Made a mess because had to start with a food processor, then transfer the cucumber to my very old blender after straining. But the final product is worth it. Yummy

This was easy to make, super refreshing and lightly sweet just the way I like! Will continue to make this and other aguas frescas to replace any store bought sugary drinks in my home. Thank you!

I use stevia all the time in Aguas. Frescas. You have to use a lot less than real sugar. I grow my own stevia here in Ajijic, Mexico. I dry the leaves and then grind them in a coffee grinder. I do not use the stuff I grow in light colored aguas frescas because it is an olive green powder. It works well for coffee and Iced tea. When I make lemonade or a light colored agua I use the commercial stevia which has been processed to male it white. Love your blog ,Mely.

Hello Lorraine,
Thank you for sharing your method for sweetening the Aguas Frescas with Stevia. Such a cool idea. Saludos hasta Jalisco!

Instead of straining the sugar, water and lime mixture, why not make a simple syrup and then, strain the lime before adding it to the cooled simple syrup. It should make for a smoother drink.

Hello Rose, great idea.
Enjoy and thanks for sharing!

Made this one and immediately enjoyed it. This one will be made all summer long, or for as long as I have cucumbers in my garden.

Hi Mely!
I love aguas frescas, but have avoided them since being diagnosed with diabetes. Have you made aguas using Stevia? Just curious as to whether this would be a good substitute.
mmartinez
Hello Esther,
Sorry to hear you were diagnosticated with diabetes. I had never try Stevia with aguas frescas.
