For National Margarita Day, let’s Celebrate with some Frozen Mango Margaritas! These are the perfect companion for Mexican Food at your next party or reunion. They are fruity, refreshing, and simply delicious! Plus, who doesn’t love a good tequila cocktail?
Mango Margarita
If there is a drink that I always order when going out for dinner, it is the Margarita. I love the combination of citrus and sweetness in the drink. Besides the classic margarita, you can find it made with different fruit flavors, like strawberry, tamarind, watermelon, and hibiscus, just to mention the most popular ones.
What is the best Tequila to make a Margarita?
I guess we can all agree that Tequila Blanco is the best choice for making margaritas. For this recipe, I’m using tequila from the brand Tequila Cazadores, a premium tequila made from 100% blue agave. This agave from the highlands of Jalisco has a different flavor, with more citrus, floral, and sweet notes than other tequilas.
Nowadays, you can find many fruits sold frozen and available year-round, which makes it very easy to whip up this Mango Margarita in your home whenever you want. It’s ready in only a matter of minutes, and the big plus is that you can use this recipe to make it using other fruits.
For those of you that like their margarita “on the rocks,” use fresh mangos or Mango fruit nectar. Mango fruit nectar is a mango juice sold at Latin or Asian stores.
If you find fresh mango, peel the mango, cut it into chunks (removing the pit), and freeze it for at least 4 hours to make this Frozen Margarita. Otherwise, you can use the fresh mango to make a Mango Margarita on the rocks by blending it with all the ingredients in this recipe and adding the crushed ice. Any way you make it, this will be a restaurant-quality margarita that you and your guests will love!

How do you make a mango margarita?
Makes 2 Servings
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces Frozen Mango chunks (about 1¾ cup)
- 3 ounces Tequila Cazadores Blanco
- 1½ ounces Triple Sec
- 4 ounces Natural Sugar or Agave Syrup
- 1¼ ounces Lime Juice
- 2 cups of ice cubes
- ½ teaspoon Chili piquín or cayenne pepper powder, to mix with the salt (optional)
Notes:
- You can also sprinkle some of the salt/chili pepper mixes directly on top of the Mango Margarita.
- Some people love to coat the rim with the popular citrusy and spicy mix called Tajín. You can find this mix sold at your local Latin stores. If you are familiar with chamoy sauce, it will be a good topping too.
- The most common salt to use to rim the glass for a margarita is Kosher salt but you can use another kind of salt.
- The Mango you find sold frozen in the United States is the Tommy Atkins variety, but if you can find the Ataulfo, also called "Campagne" your drink will be even tastier and sweeter. Ataulfo Mango is in season from February to November.
Instructions:
- Place the Mango chunks, Tequila Cazadores, triple sec, natural syrup, and lime juice in your blender. Blend in the highest setting until you have a very smooth mixture.
- Add the ice cubes to the blender, making sure that they go all the way down to the bottom where the blades are, and continue blending until very smooth. Serve in the prepared glasses of your choice.
- To prepare the glasses, dab the rims with a lime wedge and then dip them into a small plate of salt (mixed with the Piquín or cayenne pepper powder, if using). Enjoy your Frozen Pineapple Margarita!
Frozen Chili Lime Mango Margarita cocktail recipe
This is a partnership with Tequila Cazadores, the recipe and opinions are my own. Now owned by Bacardi, the Tequila Cazadores portfolio includes five types of tequila: Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Extra Añejo, and Cristalino. Tequila Cazadores is a high-quality tequila at an affordable price. With a Wine Enthusiast 93-point and 91-point rating, Tequila Cazadores Blanco and Reposado, respectively, are some of the best tequilas in their categories in the world, and seriously delicious!

What is "natural sugar" in this recipe? Is it another name for "simple sugar" 50% sugar and 50% water solution?
Mely Martínez
Hello Judy,
Yes, it is regular granular sugar.
