No-Bake Mango Pie is a delicious dessert perfect for summertime or when craving something sweet and tropical. This pie is one of the many ways we enjoy mangoes during the summer season back in my hometown.
It is easy to make and relatively quick; it's no wonder why so many people in Mexico love this dessert. Whether you're hosting a party or just want to treat yourself, give mango pie a try. You won't be disappointed!
Mango Season in Mexico
Mango season in Mexico is a highly anticipated time of year for locals and tourists alike. This sweet and juicy fruit is a staple in many Mexican dishes, from fresh salsas to desserts. The season typically starts in late May and lasts until September, and during this time, you'll find mangoes at almost every market and street vendor's stands. Some of the most popular varieties include Ataulfo, Kent, and Tommy Atkins. However, many varieties all over the country have different tastes and textures.
When mangoes are plentiful, people get creative and make popsicles, aguas frescas, peel, slice and top them with chilli powder and, of course, this delicious pie. This is one of my favorite pies during the summer season because of its flavor, and it also brings memories of my childhood hometown. Even to this day, during the mango season, you still find mangoes line up on top of concrete fences. These mangoes are free for whoever wants to take them or pass them along to other neighbors.
This recipe hails from a small town close to my hometown, where you find vendors close to the highways selling the pie by the slice. After many years of travelling across Mexico, this stop still excites me, as this pie is just delightful. Like the previous mango pie, this recipe only requires very little time to make and no baking. So if you are looking for a quick and easy dessert for your next summer or backyard gathering, try this recipe. You won't be disappointed!
Frequently Asked Questions About No Bake Mango Pie.
Before I share my recipe, I will answer the questions I usually get about this homemade recipe.
What is mango pie made of?
Most mango pies are typically made with fresh mangoes, sugar, butter, flour, eggs, and cream. Some recipes may also include additional spices like cinnamon or lime juice to enhance the flavor. On some occasions, the pie crust can be baked, but in this pie, the crust is an easy graham/ butter combination, and no bake is needed. The filling for this pie is just a combination of simple ingredients mangoes, gelatin and cream cheese.
What are the best mangoes for pie?
My favorite mangoes for this pie are manilla, very similar to Ataulfo. However, you can use your favorite mango for this recipe, I am using Tommy because that's what I found in my grocery store. Some of the best varieties of mangoes for pies include Ataulfo, Tommy and Alphonso. These mangoes have a rich, creamy texture and a sweet, tropical flavor that is perfect for pies.
How to make mango pulp
To make mango pulp, start by selecting ripe and juicy mangoes. Peel the mangoes and cut the flesh away from the pit. Then, place the mango flesh in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. If the pulp is too thick, you can add a small amount of water to thin it out.
How to store no-bake mango pie
Because this pie contains cream cheese and fresh mangoes, I recommend you cover it loosely with foil, plastic wrap, or a large airtight container and place it in the fridge for about 3-4 days.
Remember to always check the pie for any signs of spoilage before consuming, such as an off smell or a change in texture or color.

Ekta
Hi, I am planning on making this for a party on the weekend. Can this be made in advance, like a couple days earlier?
Mely Martínez
Hello Ekta,
Maybe one day in advance.
Yvette
Hi there, I really want to make this recipe. I'd like to use frozen mangoes that I have on hand. Is it possible to make this with frozen mangoes??? =) I hope it's a yes!
Mely Martínez
Hello Yvette,
I'm not sure the frozen mangos will render the same texture since they have a large liquid content than fresh mangos. Maybe, you will need to add more gelatine than the amount mentioned on the ingredient list.
Smita
What kind of pie crust is needed? The frozen kind or the one on the regular shelves?
Mely Martínez
Hello Smita,
The one on the shelves or the one made with crushed graham crackers and butter.
Deb
Hi Mely! I have made this delicious pie a few times now and it is scrumptious as written! This weekend while i was doing my shopping i sa frozen mango pulp and they also have frozen passion fruit pulp! I knew i had to try it! Once the pulps were thawed the passion fruit was the consistency of water. I didnt like that
Deb
Discourage me and instead of the half cup of water i used the passion fruit pulp instead! The outcome was delicious! Just thought i would throw this out there. I cant wait to try other fruits with this pie! Thank you for the recipe!!

I plan to make this yummy recipe this weekend, however I don't know how many fresh mangos I need. How many ataulfo or manila mangos does it take to make two cups of mango pulp?
mmartinez
Hello,
It will be about 4-5 mangos. Happy cooking!

Jaya
The flavor on this is amazing, but every time I make it small white lumps form. Do you know what I may be doing wrong?
Mely Martínez
Hello Jaya,
Small lumps of mango o gelatine. If it is gelatine you have to make sure to dissolve it very well.
Kathy
Can I use frozen mango pulp and sweetened condensed milk?
Mely Martínez
Hello Kathy,
Yes, you can.

Mely,
it must be delicious, i love mangoes!
My wife made a cake like this with pumpkin and crushed biscuits.
The problem with mangoes here is that we rarely find ripe fruits as they are all imported from abroad and they are always soft like rocks!
Last year i found some delicious mangoes at a small Indian grocery store, otherwise what you buy at the supermarket is almost uneatable remembering the juicy mangoes topped with chamoy throughout Mexico.
Ciao!
Tlaz
