Quick & easy papaya drink
Agua fresca is a traditional Mexican drink enjoyed all over the country in the summer months. Some popular flavors sold at stands include watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, and horchata. Papaya, however, is more of a homemade drink and one of my late father's favorites.
In This Post
I remember my dad in the kitchen making a big pitcher on hot summer days. After a long day at work, he would cut the fresh papaya and put all his ingredients in the blender. Agua de Papaya was one of his favorite drinks, just after limeade.
He would even add a little fresh lime juice to the pitcher as his personal touch to the drink. At that point, he would hear my whining: “Why did you have to do that? I don’t like lime juice on my agua de papaya!” After this, he would just smile with his warm eyes looking at me, a memory I will treasure forever.
