If you think the only alcohol we drink in México is beer and tequila, it's not true. We also really enjoy drinking wine!

Sure, Mexicans might drink a lot less wine than other countries like Spain or France, but we still enjoy a fruity sangria.

When you look at the history of wine in México, you'll understand why it's not more popular. You see, Spaniards brought wine-making (and drinking) over with them, but it was prohibited for the new settlers of New Spain to produce wine in México. After it became legal, Mexicans began to enjoy making their own wines - and you can find some amazing ones here in México. And, with that, sangrias.

Now, this recipe is not the classic Traditional Mexican Sangria recipe, but one that I created myself. In México, the recipe uses the following ingredients: Red wine, lime juice, sugar or syrup, mineral water, and ice cubes. But, to change things up a bit, I used white Moscato with peachy flavors and combined it with some orange liqueur, peach juice, and fresh peaches. Since the peach juice is so incredibly sweet, I didn't need to add more sugar!

I hope you enjoy this peach and white Moscato sangria recipe while you relax over your weekend celebrating life and your loved ones. And, in case you feel adventurous and want to mix up a pink or red sangria, play with the flavors using citrus fruits to go alone the aromatic orange blossom flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions About White Sangria

Before I share my sangria recipe, here are a few questions I've been asked about my version of white Moscato sangria.

Is Pinot Grigio or Moscato better for sangria?

I prefer the peachy tastes of White Moscato in my sangria. If you don't have White Moscato, another white wine like Riesling or Pinot Grigio will work as well. If you use a dryer and more acidic wine, you might have to use more peach juice to sweeten it.

Does this white sangria taste sweet?

Yes, this is a very sweet sangria. If you don't want it to taste as sweet, just use less peach juice. That's where most of the sugary sweetness will come from.

What other types of fruit can I add to this sangria?

I used peaches because it compliments the peach undertones of the White Moscato. You can also use other mild fruits such as nectarines or pears in this sangria. You can even add raspberries and strawberries for an added flavor and color.

How do you make a non-alcoholic sangria mocktail?

If you want to make a non-alcoholic version of this sangria, just replace the White Moscato with white grape juice and orange essence for the orange liqueur with orange juice.

  • Peaches (or Nectarines)
  • Peach Juice, I use the one sold at latin stores.
  • Orange Liqueur
  • White Moscato wine
  • Ice Cubes
  • Club Soda (or Sparkling Water)

What To Serve With Peach Moscato Sangria

I consider sangria to be a drink you serve at parties, so serve some appetizers along with it!

Stuffed squash blossoms are easy to serve to guests and have an incredible flavor. Chips and guacamole are always a huge hit at parties too, especially when you make crispy homemade tortilla chips.

Crab empanadas are another super-popular finger food that guests love. They have the most incredible filling and look stunning too.

This will be so refreshing sitting next to the pool during our hot Arizona summers. Red wine triggers migraine headaches, so this is a great alternative!
