Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized ripe bananas*
  • 1 ½ cup of milk
  • 3 ⅓ cups of water
  • cup sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 5 drops of red food coloring or grenadine syrup**
  • 2 cups of ice cubes
  • A dash of ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Place peeled bananas, milk, water, sugar, vanilla and food coloring or grenadine into a blender, and process until you have a very smooth mixture.
  • Pour into a pitcher and add the ice cubes. Dust with some ground cinnamon when served.

Notes

*Use ripe bananas since they are sweeter and you won’t need to add more sugar.
** The food coloring or grenadine is optional. The pink option is a very popular way to sell it in Mexico.
